Competing in most disciplines over the years Laura now focuses on dressage and is currently training her homebred 5 year old TB x WB horse.  Having successfully competed 4 times at National level in dressage, Laura competes to Elementary level and has taught since 2004, teaching both children and adults from novice to advanced level.

As well as competing herself Laura has frequently judged at horse shows and dressage competitions.  An active British Riding Club member, Laura was chairman of West Wales Riding Club and also Dressage Manager for 3 years, organising and running all dressage competitions including a BRC regional dressage qualifier.  She has also assisted with competition stewarding at club and regional level and has both coached and competed in teams to National level.

horse fecpakFaecal Egg Counting (FEC)

The high value of horses and the need for maximum performance means that it is essential to control worms adequately.  A severe worm infection can emaciate, debilitate and even cause death in horses.  Even a mild infection can seriously affect the development and performance of your horse.

To effectively manage worms, the decision to treat must be an informed one.  You may not need to de-worm at all, or you may find that you should have de-wormed earlier.  Faecal Egg Counts (FEC) are at present the only satisfactory way of deciding when to treat your horse.  The usual practice of dosing at regular intervals may therefore mean that you are worming your horse when no eggs are present.  Thus you may be encouraging the development of resistant worms and wasting time and money.

Ross Anthony Livestock Services Ltd uses FECPAK to provide you with FEC's for your horse.  We can either come to you and collect samples or you may post or drop them off with us if this is more convenient.  We will then provide you with a prompt FEC and advise you of a suitable worming strategy.  Regular monitoring will allow you to develop unique management strategies and enable you to spend less time and money on worm control without compromising your horse's health.

Clipping and Trimming

horse clipAn experienced and fully insured mobile clipping service is offered using Lister products.  Liberty clippers are used for general clipping.  These can either be fitted with fine blades (leaves 1.4mm of hair) or medium blades (leaves 2.5mm).

The Liberty clippers can either be used with a choice of two power supplies, mains or powerpack.  Powerpack has approx. 2.5 hours of clipping time and allows for clipping to be carried out in any location and is ideal for young or nervous horses.  These clippers feature reduced noise and vibration for more relaxed clipping (ideal for all involved!)

To complement the Liberty clippers, the Libretto Super Trimmer is also used.  This is lightweight and compact and although designed for trimming, it is powerful enough to do a full clip.  These are used with either a mains supply or the powerpack and are capable of over 4.5 hours trimming with the powerpack.

All types of clips are available, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
